Public Works Recurrent
The Committee recommends the deletion of subhead 10, itoms 3, 4 and 6 which provide for the maintenance of public recreation grounds, children's playgrounds, and school playing fields because the Gardens Department of the Development Secretariat has assumed responsibility for theso services and has sufficient funds for such purposes.
The effect of this recommendation is to reduce the expenditure under this head from $7,948,000 to $7,923,000.
Head 29. Public Works Extraordinary
The Committee recommends that subhead 1, Item 2, "Replacement of Lost Instruments and Equipment" should be charged to the new rehabilitation loan and expenditure under this head reduced from $102,000 to $7,000.
Recapitulation
As a result of all the recommendations made under various heads of expenditure, tho Committee recommends the following amendments to the Appropriation for 1947-1948 Ordinance 1947.

The substitution of the words one hundred and nine million eight hundred and thirty four thousand three hundred and fifty five for one hundred and nine million four hundred and eighty eight thousand four hundred and thirty three.
Clause 2
